Regional Australia is changing, and with this transformation comes boundless opportunities to rethink what regional Australia means. Change is also bringing many challenges for our regions with population growth and jobs high on the agenda in South Australia.
New evidence is needed to help communities set a plan for the future and the Regional Australia Institute (RAI) is looking forward to sharing its latest work with South Australia in July this year.
Regional Migration and Jobs in SA
Regions Rising SA is part of the RAI’s ground breaking national roadshow for 2019.
In March this year, South Australian Premier Steve Marshall signed a new Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) with the Morrison Government, aimed at bringing skilled migrants to regions to help fill the skills shortage facing SA. The RAI’s foundational work in this space can help support a new regional development push to recharge the regions.
Join us in Adelaide on 10 July and be part of the conversation about Regional Jobs and Migration in SA, where Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, The Hon. Tim Whetstone, will launch RAI’s highly anticipated migration toolkit Steps to Settlement Success.
This toolkit encapsulates the many lessons learned by communities around the country who have successfully welcomed migrants to help fill job vacancies and drive the population of their regional towns and cities.
This work, which has been generously supported by the Scanlon Foundation, will help guide regional communities and the South Australian Government in their renewed efforts to attract migrants and, more importantly, see them stay in SA.
